This protocol seeks to ensure that African states eliminate discrimination against women, recognise women's rights to dignity, life, integrity, security, participation, peace, education, housing, food security, health and control over their reproductive systems, eliminate harmful practices against women, protect women in both marriage and divorce, ensure equal access to and protection from the law, and ensure equal access to social welfare and the economic arena.
