This paper contains the proceedings of a session of the "Forum for the Future of Democracy,” which was held in Moscow in October 2006. The purpose of this session was to evaluate the role of political parties in sustaining democracy in the contemporary world, to trace the interaction between political parties and other actors in the democratic process, etc.
