"Since 1500, the con­cep­tion of Eu­rope has con­sol­i­dated it­self through a se­ries of media events which served to pre­sent and trans­fer in­te­gra­tive in­ter­pre­ta­tions of its iden­tity. Key events such as the Re­for­ma­tion, the French Rev­o­lu­tion or the moon land­ing were based on spe­cific me­dial struc­tures which trans­formed these oc­cur­rences into events, thereby gen­er­at­ing shared col­lec­tive per­cep­tions and emo­tions.
