"Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources establishes the general targets of 20% share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy in the European Union (EU) and a 10% target for energy from renewable sources to be achieved by all Member States in energy consumption in the transportation sector by 2020. In Spain, the target means that renewable sources must account for at least 20% of final energy consumption by 2020 - the same as theEU average - together with a contribution of 10% from renewable sources in the field of transport by that year."
