The article gives an overview of the critique of the notion that poor people can be the source of profit presented in C.K. Prahald book "The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid, The: Eradicating Poverty Through Profits" and pays attention to the decrease in microfinance loans which are supposed to be the main source of profits gained from the poor.
