Celia de Anca researches alternative to conventional banks and sees a trends in what she calls community financing. The term community financing covers economic entities that channel financial resources of the savers of a community into the general well-being of the community. As an example, members of a community can support new local businesses that they think are needed in the area. According to de Anca, two reasons for the trend are that conventional banks are disappearing from local communities and they are not perceived as supportive towards small businesses.
