"The aim of this opinion is to highlight the current active participation of older people in Europe, consider the barriers to enabling more people to be engaged, and emphasise that such participation continues throughout person's lifetime. Building an age friendly Europe starts at birth and requires the long view. There are currently 85m people over 65 in Europe and this will rise to 151m by 2060. It is important not to just focus on chronological age but to recognise and build capacity to participate at all ages." (Quoted from paper)
