Argentina's Jewish minority immigrated to Argentina in three major waves. Anti-semitism was rare before the Second World War and has been almost pervasively quelled since then. Currently the Jewish population is active throughout Argentine society and has gained prominence in journalism and the arts. For the most part the Jewish minority is a political and economic equal to the rest of the Argentine population, but continues to endure persistent social prejudices.
