The European Commission is presenting, on 17 June 2008, a package on immigration and asylum. The ultimate goal of the Policy Plan on Asylum in the EU is to enhance access to protection in the EU, under equal conditions for any person deserving asylum, reaching higher common standars of protection, effective practical cooperation and a higher degree of solidarity and responsability among Member States.
