Mayor Monika Herrmann proposes to end the prohibition on cannabis in Kreuzberg, Berlin. This proposal is meant to alleviate the presence of drug dealers in Kreuzberg. The area has seen a change in demography in the last decades and is now comprised of Turkish immigrants, Africans and wealthy Germans. Some fear that legalisation of cannabis is part of overall gentrification of the area and it will force Turkish immigrants and Africans out of Kreuzberg.
