This master's thesis examines the extent to which EU law is able to fight human trafficking. The new EU Directive adopted in April 2011 on Prevention, Combat and Protection is analysed in relation to its ability to address the root causes and other factors leading to human trafficking. Interviews with the OSCE, La Strada International, the European Parliament etc. are drawn on as well to investigate the challenges facing the EU in fighting this phenomenon.
