Ledia Andrawes
Work
Recently joined Global Citizen in 2011. Prior to this, she led talent strategy consulting projects across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, finance and not-for-profit. She is currently leading the fundraising effort in a not-for-profit called One Disease At A Time with the aim of eliminating infectious diseases from Australia, beginning with scabies, which has reached epidemic proportions in remote Aboriginal communities.
Education
After completing a creative-based degree in architectural design from the University of Technology, Sydney, Ledia found that her relentless curiosity, a love of variety, and natural tendency to hone in on the core problems that need solving allowed her to gravitate towards business consulting and relationship management. She has recently started studying a Master's of Poverty Reduction, Policy & Practice with SOAS at the University of London through correspondence.
Areas of Interest
An entrepreneurial spirit led her towards volunteering abroad, teaching English and entrepreneurial skills in developing communities in both South Africa and Morocco. She was also involved with the general logistics and coordination of food, clothing and homewares distribution as well as general program administration. She found working with local community orphanages, small children's homes, youth centres, street kids projects and remote villages was challenging and humbling - truly enriching experiences that have committed her to having an impact on the injustices and inequality plaguing this world.
Personal
Her goals for the future are simple. She wants to be challenged, to have ownership and be accountable, to be adventurous, to always be learning, and to do her part in restoring balance in the world around her - becoming involved with initiatives that foster real and sustainable impact for a better world that leverage "reach, scale, and expertise" as put in the words of Jeffrey Sachs.
