Work
Sustainable energy consultant in Lausanne, Switzerland. Prior to master studies project manager with crystalsol, an Estonian/Austrian start-up commercializing the innovative Monograin Membrane Solar Cell technology. Earlier he has been working at the Sonnenhaus-Institut e.V. in Straubing, Germany, a network promoting primary energy efficient building technologies mainly based on solar thermal energy.

Education
BSc in Eco-Energy-Engineering 2006-2009 at Wels, University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. Including Erasmus stays in Tallinn in the third year of studies. Currently completing his MSc in Estonia, enrolled in the joint master program “Materials and Processes of Sustainable Energetics” at both Tallinn University of Technology and University of Tartu.

Areas of Interest
Sustainable development and energy policy. Different areas connected with sustainable energy, especially solar cells, solar thermal engineering, solar heating systems, and energy conversion circles.

Personal
Born and raised in rural north east Bavaria, he enjoys being in nature and/or to do forestry work. Hobbies are bicycling, hiking, travelling, cooking, cross country skiing. Franz speaks German and English as well as some Russian and Estonian. Besides this he just started studying French.
