Relevent Work Experience
As Part of our 3rd year we have to undergo a 5 month Placement in an engineering environment. Due to the present economic climate in Ireland, it was difficult for a lot of the class to find work at all, not to mind getting the 5 months. I was one of the lucky few to get the opportunity to work with both an Energy Management company (Enerit Ltd) and the Informatics Research Unit for Sustainable Engineering, Galway (IRUSE, An inter-Institutional research group). I got to meet and gain knowledge from a lot of very experienced people in the energy field giving me a lot of confidence and skill sets necessary in undertaking research. I attended a number of seminars relating to energy management, Renewable technologies and sustainable development. I have continued with my supervisor in IRUSE, Dr. Marcus Keane, and I am currently researching for my Final Year Project titled “Energy Performance of a building Utilizing Combined Heat and Power”.
Personal
Born in England in 1990 and moved to Ireland in 1993 when my dad got a job in Shannon, Co.Clare. I then moved to Galway to study Civil engineering and will graduate later this year. I am a keen swimmer and athlete and I have competed internationally for Ireland as part of the “Senior Irish Surf-Lifesaving team” in both France and Holland. I am the proud owner of a European medal also. It is from this involvement in sport that I received great discipline and learned the importance of teamwork in order to succeed. I am currently a member of the NUI, Galway Rowing Crew also. I thrive at the opportunity to travel and meeting people from all different backgrounds and experiences.
